The inbound travel market did not pick up as the industry expected after the Beijing Olympic Games, instead it kept declining year after year. However, due to its early actions, China Star had already transitioned to the international meetings industry from a pure DMC at the time when it grasped the first opportunity to handle the "29th ISME World Conference" in 2010. China Star obtained information about this conference from the ICCA database and submitted the bid application directly to the association. China Star won the opportunity to offer its PCO service to the conference thanks to its comprehensive presentation and convincing proposal.
The 29th ISME World Conference was jointly hosted by Beijing Municipal Government and China Conservatory of Music. The conference attracted international delegates from around 65 countries and regions. This conference was of large scale, high standards, complicated service procedures and contents. As the Chinese saying “Maintaining an army for a thousand days to use it for a hour”, China Star did a great job for the conference with services of high quality and added value.
The case of “29th ISME World Conference” was among the top three candidates for ICCA Best Marketing Award. It was presented at the ICCA Congress in Leipzig, Germany and was showcased on the ICCA website. Up to now, China Star has been the only PCO from mainland China with this honor.
Since then, China Star officially entered the meetings industry. Its market share increases every year, which almost reaches the same level of of the one for incentive travel. The diversity of China Star’s services increases its competence that lays the root for its sustainable development.
